2009年の函館開港150周年を機に始まった、「旅」を大きなテーマとする芸術祭。2016年には北海道新幹線と道南いさりび鉄道線の開業を、また翌年には両線の1周年を記念して開催されてきた。
今回は開港160周年及び北海道新幹線と道南いさりび鉄道線の開業3周年を記念し、函館市内から道南いさりび鉄道線沿いに北斗市・木古内町に至るエリアを会場とし、道南在住や出身などゆかりのある方や、作品やテーマが当地につながる約30人の作家が参加して開催された。
ギャラリーや公共施設だけでなく、駅や車両も「はこトリ」の舞台となり、絵画、彫刻、写真、木工、アニメーション、音楽やダンスなどの多彩なプログラムを展開する中、ウリュウは、ともに写真作家であり、2007年に2人展「Railway Story」(於・札幌市写真ライブラリー)を開催した、衣斐隆(えび・たかし)さん、そして長く共同で作品展示など交流を続けている上原稔(うえはら・みのる)さんとともに本展に参加した。
函館山の麓・十字街にある「函館市地域交流まちづくりセンター」(旧・丸井今井函館店)では、会場の前を走る路面電車にちなみ、街と路面電車が作り出す景観をテーマとした作品を展示。道南いさりび鉄道の茂辺地駅(北斗市)近くにある「北斗星広場」に保存されている寝台特急「北斗星」の客車内では、かつて北海道と東京を結んだ寝台列車の旅を想起させるようなさまざまな旅の時間を表現した。3人の旅への視点の個性が交差する空間に、たくさんの方々が旅をしてきてくださった。

[Hakodate Triennale 2019]
An art festival with a major theme of “Travel,” which began on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Hakodate’s opening in 2009. The event was attended by about 30 artists who had a connection with the theme and the works and themes connected to the area.
Not only galleries and public facilities, but also stations and vehicles are the stage of this triennale, and while developing a variety of programs such as painting, sculpture, photography, woodwork, animation, music and dance, URYU is a photographer And participated in this exhibition together with Mr.Takashi EBI and Mr.Minoru UEHARA.
At the “Hakodate Community Exchange and Development Center”(Formerly Marui Imai Department Store) at the base of Mt.Hakodate, located on the Juji-gai one of the major crossroads, the theme of the scenery created by the street and the tramway is similar to the tram running in front of the venue.
Also, exhibition in the passenger car of the sleeper limited express “HOKUTOSEI” stored at near Moheji Station (Hokuto City) of the South Hokkaido Railway, various things that remind you of a sleeper train journey that once connected Hokkaido and Tokyo Expressed the time of a trip. Many people have traveled to the space where the three people’s perspectives intersect.
