国際交流の舞台として脚光を浴びているニセコに立ち上がった新しい芸術文化のイベント。ニセコでは自身初めての展示となった。
「JOMON＋ART village in Niseko」は、世界文化遺産登録を目指している”北海道・北東北の縄文文化遺産”を構成する地である北海道で、時代を超えたカルチャームーブメントになりつつある「縄文」をキーワードに枠組みをつくり、これにまつわる様々な表現の場を作り出そうとするプロジェクト。
「縄文太鼓」を創案し各地で演奏活動を続けているジャンベ奏者の茂呂剛伸さんをはじめその門下の演奏家が集うほか、舞踏家の鈴木明倫(あきのり)さんを迎え2017年に初演された舞台『盲目のサロルンカムイ』が再演され、その他にも広がりを見せている縄文文化に熱く迫るドキュメンタリー映画『縄文にハマる人々』(山岡信貴監督)の上映、縄文ファンとしても名高い片桐仁さんをお迎えしてのワークショップなどの多彩なプログラムが展開された。
ウリュウもこれらのプログラムが開催される「ニセコ中央倉庫群」にて、縄文という足跡にも通じるであろう「轍 -Layered Winter-」シリーズを集成し、展示を行った。

[JOMON + ART village in Niseko 2019]
A new art and culture event set up in Niseko, which has been spotlighted as a stage for international exchange. It was my first exhibition in Niseko.
“JOMON + ART village in Niseko” is a part of “Jomon Cultural Heritage in Hokkaido and Northern Tohoku”, which aims to be registered as a World Cultural Heritage. In Hokkaido, the keyword “Jomon” is becoming a timeless culture movement. This project aims to create a framework for creating a space for various expressions related to this.
Djembe player Mr.Goshin MORO, a percussionist who invented the “Jomon Taiko” and continues to perform in various places, will gather with his performers, as well as contemporary dancer Mr.Akinori SUZUKI. The stage “Sarorunkamuy”(a crane lives in the marsh) has been replayed, and a documentary movie “People who are addicted to Jomon” (Directed by Mr.Nobutaka YAMAOKA), a movie documenting the expanding Jomon culture, welcomes Mr.Jin KATAGIRI, a well-known Jomon fan. A variety of programs such as workshops were developed.
I also assembled and exhibited the “WADACHI -Layered Winter-” series, which would lead to the footprint of Jomon, at “Niseko Central Warehouses” where these programs are held.
